Day 9 - Florence

We are staying at B&B Al Duomo. Which is the perfect location, it's right in the centre of Florence and it includes breakfast, which is a real bonus when travelling on a budget. The B&B is run by a husband and wife, and they make us breakfast every morning. The husband makes excellent cappuccinos, definitely the best coffee I've had in Europe so far. It was funny how shocked they were at the fact that Chiara and Alise don't like coffee, I thought they were about to faint lol!! We then headed off to explore the city, there are so many bridges in Florence, sometimes even with houses on them which is really quirky and different haha! Here are a few pics from our walk this morning:

After our lunch at a local pizzeria we decide it was time for another Gelati, hey a Gelati a day keeps the doctor away haha!!! This time I got pistachio flavor and made sure to choose the cone dipped in chocolate and covered with nuts, it was huge!!!

We decided to take advantage of the boiling hot weather and head to the pool! We travelled to Le Pavoniere which was situated in a park, it was pretty hard to find, and it was full of locals, not tourists, so we knew we'd hit the jackpot! The pool was the perfect temp, and it was te perfect place for an arvo nap in the sun, some people even fell asleep... (see pics of Alise asleep below lolololol!)

Dinner was EPIC, the meal portions here are huge, so we battled hard. However the pasta was delish!!

The walk home was surprisingly serene, nothing beats a Tuscan sunset. I think there were people taking photos on every corner.

We then visited Il Porcellino (bronze fountain of a boar). Visitors to Il Porcellino put a coin into the boar's gaping jaws, with the intent to let it fall in for good luck, and they rub the boar's snout to ensure a return to Florence.

The coins that are placed in the boar's mouth go to charity. Unfortunately whilst we were there a man came up, stole all the coins, thanked us, smiled and walked off. Everyone was in such shock at his disgraceful behaviour, but there wasn't really much we could do... It was just a disappointing end to an otherwise really awesome day.
