Day 6 - San Sebastián/Madrid

Today was our last day in San Sebastián. I think we were all secretly glad as whilst San Seb was beautiful it was way too cold and rainy! One of my colleagues from work recommended that we try Pastel Vasco (Almond Tart) from Oiartzun Gozotegia. He claimed it was the best tart ever and that it would change our lives, so we decided to give it a whirl hahaha! It was an absolutely delicious tart, so I think I'm a whole new woman now lol!

Then we embarked on our 5 hour train trip to Madrid. The train was actually really clean and the scenery was glorious, so the 5 hours seem to fly fast however I think that may have been due to the book Alise leant me "The Rosie Project" which I was deeply engrossed it the whole time haha!

The first thing I noticed when we came out of the train station was the heat, it was still bright for 930pm and it would have been about 28 degrees. I hadn't even seen the city yet but instantly I was like to the girls "I love Madrid." Madrid is crazy, the streets are packed and the restaurants are full. We didn't get too much time to explore the city as we needed to check in to our hotel and get a feed. We got dressed and headed out for dinner at 1130pm which was really odd, but it's prime dinner time around then and Europeans tend start late and party till dawn. We had dinner at El Viejo, Chiara and I ordered tapas and Alise ordered a grande (giant) steak (lol typical haha). Chiara and I had mini burgers, crispy chicken with Dijon mustard and mayo and another dish however the name escapes me now, it was basically a mushroom, capsicum and guacamole wrap. We ordered mojitos (again) I think we're becoming obsessed with them hahaha!
