Day 21 - 23: Santorini

It was boiling hot everyday in Santorini. On the first night we watched the sunset as we were eating dinner, I don't think I could ever get sick of the Greek sunset. I have tried very hard to ensure I order seafood for most meals in Greece, as that is what they do best, often you can actually see the fishermen bringing in the fish or squid hanging off the warf. For dinner I ordered the seafood marinara, which was a beautiful dish consisting of mussels and prawns with a tomato based pasta sauce.

The next day, we ventured out on a small tour around the island. I never realised that there were huge volcanoes surrounding the island or that a large majority of it is covered by rock! I was super intrigued after we paid a visit to the black sand beach, I've never seen black sand before!

That afternoon we went donkey riding and shopping in the town of Firá. When I was riding on my donkey it was actually pretty scary as he insisted on walking right near the edge of the large cliff, at times I thought he's throw me over haha! The donkies are super intelligent and quickly respond to their minders orders, it was a really different way to experience the amazing views Santorini has to offer!

That night we visited one of the most famous places in Santorini, Oía - known for it's breathtaking views. And boy, it did not disappoint, you haven't experienced life until you've seen a Santorini sunset. It starts out as a gorgeous orange and as it gradually begins to set it shifts to a deep red colour, once the sun is red it doesn't take long to set, it disappears so suddenly and leaves behind a blend of organges, purples and reds.
