Day 11 - Venice

Today we arrived in one of the most glorious cities I've ever seen, Venice. We got off the train and we thought we were going to get on a normal bus, but it turned out it was a "water bus" and we also saw many "water taxis," the perks of a city surrounded by water I guess haha! On the "bus" I managed to get some great shots on my iphone, seriously contemplating whether I need to even do a gondala ride now haha (jokes!)

Once we finally arrive we were starving, Chiara and I could smell the most delicious pizza ever (tomato, oregano and garlic), which had just come out of the oven. So we each bought a slice for 3€ definitely the most satisfying pizza I've ever had. Alise was craving a chicken shnitty, so she bought a sambo from a local take away. This is the view from outside our window (so weird to look out and see water haha):

We then went out to explore the city further as well as find a supermarket. Venice is definitely a place where it is very easy to get lost, there are so many random narrow streets, canals and bridges, finding a supermarket posed a difficult task. Eventually we found one by venturing to the San Marco piazza, we only spent a few moments there so we're definitely coming back tomorrow. I can't get over how cheap wine in supermarkets is here, we scored a Pinot Gregio for 3€, I saw an American couple with 12 reds in their trolley haha! We were pretty exhausted by night time so we just grabbed a simple (overpriced) meal from a nearby restaurant and then shared a bottle of wine at a local pub haha, with the intention to watch the soccer but the wine made us so sleepy we headed home beforehand lol!

  2. So beautiful there!

Burano is a great town to visit Rosie - boat trip. Houses are all different colours - very pretty - some shopping. Hard to do everything though. Murano factory is interesting too. But just enjoy the atmosphere. It's great sitting at that bar on the water at San Marco too.
